Today was Week 6 Day 3 of the Couch-to-5K running plan… a single 25 minute run.

It was a cold, calm, 20 degrees out when I left the house today. I had low expectations today in part due to the fact that I feel like I might be getting a cold, and partly due to how poorly W6D2 went. But I’m happy to report that I handled the workout without a problem.

Total was 3.06 miles in 40:28 (13:13 pace). Warm-up was 0.43 miles in 5:53 (13:44 pace). The 25 minute run covered 2.00 miles in 24:59 (12:30 pace), with a maximum speed of 6.6 MPH. Cool-down was 0.63 miles in 9:36 (15:07 pace).

As you can tell from the graph, I intentionally took it slow and easy for the 25 minute run. I kept it around a 12:00 pace, and by the time Mr. Ullrey was telling me I was over half way done I wasn’t even out of breath. I had enough energy to push quite a bit harder for the last minute or so… and it felt good. Today was definitely (and surprisingly) one of my best runs to date.

Also, I started later than usual tonight. So tonight was the first night wearing my new Amphipod Full Visibility Vest.

It was super comfortable, and I’m sure cars had no problem seeing me. I’m quite happy with it.

W6D3 was a good one. I’m looking forward to Week 7.
