Today was Week 7 Day 7 of the Hal Higdon 10K Training Plan… and it was a wet one!

Rained almost all day today, but that didn’t stop me. I put on my Amphipod vest and went out for my “long run” for the week.
Ran 5.50 miles in 1:02:01 (11:16/mi pace) with an average speed of 5.3 mph and a max of 8.0 mph. My 1-mile splits were 10:55, 11:07, 11:27, 11:18, 11:58. Burned around 847 calories.

As you can tell, I wasn’t setting any speed records with tonight’s run. I intentionally kept it slow and comfortable partly because of yesterday’s race, but mostly because I tend to enjoy the long runs far more when I don’t push too hard.
Speed will come with time and distance… for now I’m content to have a nice run in the rain. :)
