Looks like I will be running the Harrisburg Mile in July as part of a five man team.
To get ready for the race, I started the Nathan Powell 1-Mile Training Plan today. I’m not really sure what that means other than each day I ask Nate what I should do, and then I do it. Today’s plan was to run for 12 minutes.
I was curious to see what kind of baseline I’m at, so I pushed it for the first mile. I dropped to a slower jog to finish out 12 minutes, and then walked for another ten minutes or so. I was able to do the first mile in 8:54 with an average speed of 6.7 mph and a max of 8.0 mph (146 calories). That’s far better than I expected.
No idea what the rest of the workouts will be for this week. Hopefully he doesn’t go all Mr. Miyagi on me and make me wash his car.
