New Python.org beta site up
This might not be “new” for everyone, but it’s the first I’ve seen it…
You can see the new Python site at beta.python.org, including the new logo. Not bad! Perhaps the new site launch will coincide with the release of Python 2.5?
Also, there is a CafePress store selling items with the logo on it (including Python trucker hats, heh). According to the site:
Welcome to the Python Merchandise store. 5% of each purchase will be contributed to the Python Software Foundation.
I assume the store is legit, but I haven’t confirmed it. I know it’s been around for a while.
Update: Looks like there is a Trac site/wiki set up for the site redesign project:
This repository contains the assets (images, html build and data) for the new python site. A recent build of the html from these assets is available at http://beta.python.org
Based on a mailing list thread I read, it looks like the goal is (was?) to have the new site up and running for PyCon2006.
