PyGame basics

Dev Shed has a decent tutorial covering the basics of building a game using PyGame. If you are new to PyGame, and considering entering the upcoming PyWeek 2 contest, you might want to check it out.

By the way, registration for PyWeek begins on February 24, 2006.

The pyWeek contest sounds interesting. Will you be doing it?

I just read through your Pygame chronicles. It looks like you’re coming along. Are you planning on getting into game development?

It’s funny, I just wrote a game called dragon attack in Pygame. Weird coincidence, huh? I’ll send you a link whenever I get it polished.

I’d really like to enter PyWeek 2, but I don’t know if I’ll be ready. I still have a long way to go before I’m able to be viable games using PyGame. The ones I’ve made up to this point could only be called “proto-games” at best.

If I could limit my distractions (e.g. using Twisted to write an IRC bot), and focus on PyGame for another two weeks, I think I would be ready.

    Are you entering?

It looks interesting. I’m very tempted to enter.

My only question is what can I use and not use? I’d like to use past programs and “games” I’ve written at least to refresh my memory on how to do stuff but I’m not sure if that’s against the rules.

I’d also need a partner. Do you have one yet?
