Suscom has been providing terrible service in the Pawling, NY area with frequent downtime. Individual customes have had service techs in to rewire connections, but it has been reported to a least one customer that there is a local connection which requires a $5000+ fix, and Suscom won't be doing it because it just sold to Comcast and hope to avoid the charge, even though it knows there is an issue. On Monday8/28/06 a service tech came and rewired my connection (he changed out a splitter from a 4 way, to a threeway) and said that would fix the problem. Yeah right. Of course it didn't, still frequent down time on the connection.
Today, I tried to migrate my email account using their "trueswitch" software. It does not recognize and will not let me enter my primary suscom.net account. It does recognize an account I have not used for 10 months. Since noon today, I've had no email, and neither Suscom nor Comcast service technicians, whom I've contacted by phone, can explain the problem to me.
Suscom appears to be taking Comcast to the cleaners on this one, and the customers are being taken for the ride.

I should have mentioned that I am not against a free(ish) market...but we need to do things that stimulate competition :)

I haven't had horrible service. I overpay for it, for sure. But not too much downtime.

The overpayment though. I could go on and on about that. This is where the free market breaks down. There is no real competition in most areas so there is no self correction in price.
